Thank you, indeed, Dr Swire!

His first name is Jim. Dr Jim Swire is the father of Flora, one of the 270 victims of the atrocious Lockerbie disaster when a PAN AM jet liner on its way to New York from London was blown up in mid-air over the Scottish town.

What, you may ask, do we have to thank Dr Swire for?

Very simple.

Dr Swire is the recognized spokesperson of the British victims of this mass murder. It was only natural that he would be interviewed by the BBC in the wake of the release, on compassionate grounds by the Scottish Government, of Mr Abdulbasset Ali Mohamet al Megrahi. Mr al Megrahi was the only person convicted at the trail held in Camp Zeist in Holland in 2000. His conviction meant that the dubious theory, that the bomb was hidden away in a suitcase on a flight which departed from Malta’s Luqa International Airport two days before, was then transferred to a plane proceeding to Heathrow at Frankfurt and then transferred yet again onto the fateful PAN AM jumbo, was accepted as the truth. This meant that Malta has the dubious record of being acclaimed as the place where the Lockerbie atrocity started off.

Dr Swire has long gone on the record several times strongly stating his total disagreement with this “evidence”. Now, once more, he is only person in all the video clips posted on the news websites in the wake of Mr al Megrahi’s release who has asked once more for all the truth to come out. In support of his stand, Dr Swire has stated on the record in an interview with the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8212475.stm Bereaved father commends 'brave' decision, posted on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 14.32 GMT) that there was a break-in at Heathrow airport by “an unidentified person” on the morning of the Lockerbie disaster, that Heathrow’s security personnel were interviewed by the Metropolitan Police immediately after the disaster and that this information “was hushed up for 12 years” until after al Megrahi’s conviction in 2000.

Dr Swire thus demands a “full blown, high powered inquiry” so that the relatives of the victims can obtain their human rights of learning the truth about who really killed their “loved ones”. On the Malta connection Dr Swire says it is an “ . . .unlikely hypothesis, it never did seem to hold water, it doesn’t stand up to inspection . . . . ” and that it was “. . . . highly unlikely scenario based on the island of Malta . . . .”

In his interview Dr Swire criticizes the Thatcher Government for concealing the lead about the Heathrow break-in. He also criticizes the western governments, especially the US Government and Mrs Clinton in particular, for insisting that Mr al Megrahi should drop his appeal before he was released on compassionate grounds. This, Dr Swire argues, means that Mr al Megrahi will always remain, technically at least, the only person to have been found guilty of the crime, that his family will have to live with this for ever and that the truth about who really committed the crime – also in the light of the Heathrow lead which was, as he says, hushed up – will never be known.

This also means that Malta will also continue to be considered as the country from where the deadly episode began.

In the light of this, I think that as a nation we should support Dr Swire’s strong appeal for a full inquiry to be held so that the full truth will. Moreover, we should thank him for unequivocally clearing Malta’s tarnished name.

For all this, thank you, indeed, Dr Swire!

Actually, the investigation clearly showed that Luqa airport had the best security in place. Luqa counted actual loaded suitcases, and compared it to the number checked-in by passengers. One too little? Strange, what happened? One too many? STOP! DANGER!
Of course both Frankfurt and Heathrow would apply natural measures too? Nope.

Mr. Wilfred Borg, Air Malta general manager for ground operations at the time, clearly testified that to sneak in an extra suitcase you'd have to be extremely lucky, or have some deal with the staff, which was not argued at the trial. Only 24 mishandled bags in approximately 14,000 flights from Luqa.
were identified.

@ Ruth Muscat

The Libyans did not proclaim Ali Megrahi a hero, they welcomed back a fellow countryman in pain and suffering with a terminal disease after falling a victim of an international conspiracy to blame Libya and Malta for a tragedy engineered by the enemy of the USA and later became a convenient ally.

The definition of the idiom 'Needle in a haystack' tells you that it is very difficult, if not impossible to find a small item among everything around it. Among the bits and pieces of the human remains, the colossal heap of scattered pieces of luggage, bits and pieces of the debris which came out from the gigantic 747 spread over a big area of Lockerby, the Scottish Police found a ‘Yorky’baby garment’s label measuring 2x3cm.’Yorkie’ is a clothes factory in Malta. The Scottish police also established that the ‘baby grow’ garment was bought by the Libyan from a shop in Malta to wrap-up the time bomb in his brief case. If you believe that you’ll believe anything. And that was the only tangible evidence which sent Ali Megrahi to prison and tarnished our country’s otherwise good reputation.

The operatives of Israel’s Mossat, the CIA, the Russian FSB, the British MI 6 and other Secret Agencies aren’t exactly as virtuous as The Vienna Boys’Choir and we would be very naïve if we think that these agencies are not capable to do ‘whatever is required’ under the excuse of safeguarding the security of their respective country and assassinations and covert operations are not excluded. These agencies are so clandestine that even the British Government, with its reputation for fair play, did not fully officially acknowledge the existence of SIS or any other security services throughout their existence until 1994.

Just to say whether releasing the terrorist who has been acclaimed as a hero on his return to Libya, was after all a wise decision when people rot in prisons for much less.

So its thanks to Alfred Grixti for writing this article. " For all this, thank you, indeed, Dr. Swire " too, for giving a boost to Malta's integrity. That leaves a wish for the success of the project by Charles J. Buttigieg and his partner Bruce, especially if the publication of their book in whatever form, helps to bring out the TRUTH, the WHOLE TRUTH and NOTHING but the TRUTH, regarding the Lockerbie disaster.

The remark made by Charles J. Buttigieg that, " Now I am having serious difficulties to accept that Al Megrahi's present medical condition wasnt conveniently induced upon him by means of extra-natural causes" sent a shiver down my spine when I read it.

@ CJ Buttigieg The publishing industry is yet another type of business, therefore it will not publish anything which is not guaranteed to leave a handsome profit. Publishing a book means paying the publisher who will then find a printer and cost each book out and will not proceed unless, say, 5000 copies are initially ordered. Therefore there is the publisher's fee, the cost of material and the printer's commission. And, that is before you see one red cent (euro) in your pocket! Using the Internet, there are absolutely no costs to you and lets the buyer print his own pages. You will also be guaranteed payment IN ADVANCE as opposed to stocking bookshops with the books which would already have cost thousands. So before you and your partner fork out a few thousand euros, consider the other method which will cost you a paltry amount. But then, someone who affords beer and champagne around his swimming pool for privileged company, may well afford to splurge some. Sorry Charles J, but I find a little humour in late Summer, quite refreshing!

@ J Martinelli Re “The Lockerby Verdict” thanks for your advice. Bruce, my partner in this project is very well connected with the publishing industry in the UK and is making another determined effort to arouse an interest now that Lockerbie is once more in the news. The book is one of my pet achievements and since there weren’t an awful lot of achievements to write home about it would give me immense satisfaction to see our efforts crowned and perpetuated in book form.

Why not serialize your book, chapter by chapter and release the portions, for a fee through e-mail attachments in PDF form?

It can fairly easily be done and will reward your efforts by collecting a small fee per installment. Suitable publicity through the regular and electronic media will enhance your sales. eBay may be of interest to you.

Payments can be made through PayPal (guaranteed) and when confirmation is received by you, then send the attachment to the buyer.

I am pretty sure that you know a lot of people with enough computer savvy and who can set it up for you.

Not only, this could turn out to be a cash cow for you, but at the same time will take your mind off the illusions of grandeur of the LP and its chances of winning in 2013! Just couldn't resist!!!

Good luck!

" We gave a great deal of importance to an alleged break-in at Heathrow airport by " an unidentified person " on the morning of the Lockerbie disaster and that Heathrow's security personnel were interviewed by the Metropolitan Police immediately after the disaster and that this information was hushed up ".

To date, ( as far as I know ) no new clues or information has been forthcoming regarding :-
1. John F. Kennedy's assassination.
2. Lady Diana's ' accidental death'.

But the extract above is critical and important information, now corroborated by Dr. Jim Swire which was hidden from the public. Should the national interest breed injustice or the miscarriage of justice ? Should Governments have the power to " hush up " information ? I believe the relatives of the victims of Lockerbie do not only want compensation, but they also want justice. Can the European Union intervene in this regard ?
J Martinelli (on 29/8/09)
We will all be waiting for the Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth for a long long time.

We are still waiting for the truth to come out regarding JFK's assassination.
We are still waiting for the truth to come out regarding Diana's 'accidental' death.
And we will have to wait a long long time before we know the truth about the Lockerbie tragedy.

Longer still, if governments may be very well involved in convenient cover-ups.
Emanuel Farrugia (on 29/8/09)
The TRUTH, the whole TRUTH and NOTHING but the TRUTH ? I too would like to add a belated THANK YOU to Dr. Jim Swire.
Charles J. Buttigieg (on 24/8/09)
Together with a former MI 5 agent , an expert on Airports security systems, I had done some extensive research on the outcome of the Lockerby verdict and co-produced a book which a number of printers in Malta and Britain refused to publish as it was considered too politically sensitive and could also jeopardise our safety. We gave a great deal of importance to an alleged break-in at Heathrow airport by “an unidentified person” on the morning of the Lockerbie disaster and that Heathrow’s security personnel were interviewed by the Metropolitan Police immediately after the disaster and that this information was hushed up. Now we also have Dr Swire repeating the Heathrow allegation.
Now I am having serious difficulties to accept that Al Magrehi’s present medical condition wasn’t conveniently induced upon him by means of extra-natural causes.
