THE SHAME OF IT
The sheer disregard for the environment demonstrated by the Government is shameful.
I have in hand a secret memo, prepared by Arbori Emraciadores, the well known environmental lobby group, which gives details of wanton waste and lack of regulation that in and of themselves are sufficient for the prosecution of the Prime Minister and the full Cabinet in the International Criminal Court.
This is not genocide, it is not nuclear terrorism, it is not a mere manifestation of the inhumanity of man to man, it goes far, far beyond this.
And I’m not talking about our PM and his Cabinet only – the Opposition are just as guilty. They have failed, in their eagerness to score cheap political points at a local, parochial level, to assume the paramount responsibility of saving the world from itself, a mantle they have to take on given the ineptitude and inaction demonstrated by the authorities.
Sadly for the human race, this despicable failure to stand up and be counted replicates itself throughout Europe and beyond its boundaries. Obama is as guilty.
It is only in a single instance that anyone has tried, poorly and insufficiently, to remedy the inaction of Governments the world over.
The memo to which I refer describes the tonnes and tonnes of sugar and syrup that used to be wasted before a private company started marketing the residue left when the holes were punched in Polo Mints. If it were not for this initiative, sufficient energy-giving substances to feed whole swathes of the Third World would have been simply allowed to go to waste.
However, this is nowhere near enough.
The masses of building materials which are just left lying around after windows are punched out in buildings, a volume exacerbated by the proliferation of ever-larger buildings, would be sufficient to pave over the channel between Malta and Gozo, eliminating the tedium and inconvenience of having to take a ferry to get between the islands and the same could be said for the English Channel and the Scandinavian Divide, to mention but two other areas that could be joined.
The growing detente between Russia and America, also, could be facilitated by the construction of ice-bridges using the scooped-out insides of igloos, but does the military-industrial complex resort to this? Of course not, aided and abetted by the webs of interest, the ice is left to melt away.
The greatest crime against humanity, however, is committed by the manufacturers of vehicle tyres and the Governments that fail to regulate their activities. The world’s dependence on petro-chemical products is well known and, were it not for the vested interests of the oil companies and the oil-producing nations, melting and reverse engineering the rubber from the inside of tyres, which in area and volume far exceeds that of the tyres themselves, means we would hardly even need to drill for oil for a couple of years.
It is, indeed, a shame that we, the people, are duped like this, while our Lords and Masters sit back and laugh at us.

In the case of Micheal Seychel his constituents were the Union members; and in the Case of Vince Farrugia are the GRTU members.
Now if you want to look at the word constituents from a marrow point of view that is your problem, not mine. And don't quote Oxford dictionary or any other dictionary, frankly does not give a sh*t.
When did Vince Farrugia and Mike Seychell have a constituency ?
"Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Frank Portelli, Vince Farrugia and now Mike Seychell?"
The three gentleman served their constituents with distinction.
Why Michael Seychell?
Read and weep about his account of life under a Socialist government in those wonderful years many Labour supporters such as yourself still relish!
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Frank Portelli, Vince Farrugia and now Mike Seychell? Who’s next Rocco Abdilla?
I am sure you will find the article very interesting. Just click on the following link; http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20090407/opinion/pl-background-pn-candidate
Knowing that you are such an unbiased person I have no reason to doubt that prior to 1998 you had the same high esteem for Dr.George Abela as you have for him now. I also believe that had he became Leader of the PL you would today be a Labour supporter. Furthermore had you been given a choice between Louis Galea and George Abela you would have opted for George.
Keep on laughing at the mirror. Be cautious though, I do not want to laugh to long and turn blue in the process and die of a heart attack as a consequence.
Nor can I, now be quiet and enjoy spring, winter is out and the trees are blossoming. We also have a new President hope you don't mind his red background.
The funny and laughing period for me was then and is still is now. Life is so good if one takes political events with a pinch of salt.
So, continue staring at a the mirror and laugh. Someday you to will come to your senses.
Sounds like the French and Russian Revolution.
And don't you worry, a PN Government will always have the rule of law at hearth. No need to worry that a PN Government will ever even contemplate to suspend the Courts to prevent you or any one else to seek what one believes is his/hers.
Which blood,the blue blood?
@ Christopher Ripard.
The big majority of the Maltese population is now feeling bluer than blue and yearning to shed their blues away.
1. I am NOT a Chelsea supporter - perish the thought!!
2. I am, or pretend to be, Bluer-than-Blue politically
3. In all cases above, I try not to be personal or offensive
@ Ivan Grech Mintoff
will see this at home later.
Just because you're a Chelsea supporter, it does not make you bluer than blue.
For one day... I promise to be good. But only if you watch this...

Good one.
If redder-than-red IGM and bluer-than-blue CR can mutually dedicate today's comments to poking fun, rather than the usual slanging, match (heck - even Bocca did), I suggest we ALL do it - just for one day at least.
And what's worse is that now that "what we knew for a long time" is now in the public domain, he'll probably try to use today's date as a cover up....
;)
