Woman sees husband flush jewellery worth €2,000 in the toilet

A man flushed his wife's €2,000 diamond necklace down the toilet after she teased him, saying her new lover had given her the jewellery, a court heard yesterday.

Sandra Ruggier told the court her husband, Amadeo Balzan, 46, had grabbed the necklace she was wearing, tore it into two and then flushed the pieces down the toilet.

Mr Balzan stands charged with stealing the jewellery and slightly injuring his wife in a domestic fight in the evening on July 22 at their residence in Attard.

Police Inspector Kevin Farrugia told the court that in a statement Mr Balzan had admitted to tearing the necklace off his wife's neck, adding that he had flushed the woman's "best friends" down the toilet because she had taunted him that her new partner had given her the precious stones.

The case continues.

If they are still legally married then the jewellery belonged to them both (community of acquists) So this guy is being charged with stealing half a necklace right??
