New director general of information

Martin Bugelli

Martin Bugelli has been appointed director general of information, local government and public consultation at the Office of the Prime Minister.

He has also assumed the duties and functions of Press Registrar this week.

Mr Bugelli was born in Cospicua in 1960 and attended the city's primary school and later St Aloysius College. He graduated as a speech therapist in 1981 and began his career at the Health Department. He also graduated in English and has an MA in mass communication.

Mr Bugelli has worked with the Education Ministry, the Department of Information and the Office of the President. He has also spent a number of years at the Maltese Permanent Representation Office to the European Union in Brussels.

He is married to Antonella, née Portelli and has three sons.

Well done Martin. Hearty congrats. It comes as a dose of relief to find Cospicuans featuring in the news in such a positive light - especially after all the negative coverage our town has been the subject of in recent weeks. I think the local authorities should do more to highlight the high civic and national profile of notable townspeople - both past and present -
