Ministerial car repairs cost €20,000 in five years
In the five years between 2004 and 2008 the government incurred just under €20,000 in maintenance costs on the car of then-Investments Minister Austin Gatt.
Answering a parliamentary question by Anthony Agius Decelis (PL), Dr Gatt himself said that the car had been purchased in 1999 for his sole personal use. The car's maintenance cost €2,502 in 2004, €8,318 in 2005, €2,022 in 2006, €4,611 in 2007 and €2,466 this year.

On a separate note, with a home in Valletta, an office in Valletta and Parliament in Valletta, one has to wonder how on earth one would run this kind of car repair expenses.
If you used the bicycle to the parlament it would have costed us the tax payers less expenses
and it would have done much good for the enviroment.
Luxury is something you can spare for you Dr Gatt but certainly not for us
